Overlooked TV Catchphrases

TV Land, the cable network, decided to compile a list of the 100 greatest TV quotes and catchphrases in history, and I’m here to fill in the gaps. Their list was OK, but by NO means was it accurate or comprehensive.

“That’s Hot.” – Paris Hilton.

Yeah, THAT’S the stuff of enduring history. Why anyone pays attention to that “carney” convention with a SAG card is utterly beyond me. But I digress. On to the catchphrases!

  • “Make it so!” – Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation

  • “Nanu-nanu!”- Mork, Mork & Mindy

  • “O-Tay!” - Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat, SNL

  • “Resistance is futile.” – The Borg, Star Trek: The Next Generation

  • “Rut Roh, Rhaggy!” – Scooby-Doo

How can it be that some many of the catch phrases that you listed did NOT appear on their list?

Well, keep in mind the notion of "consider the source"; such brillant, timeless phrases as "Tell me what you don't like about yourself..." from Nip/Tuck and "Welcome to the O.C, bitch..." from The O.C. made it. This is TV Land we're talking about, not MENSA.
